Best 20″ Chainsaw for Professionals and Homeowners

Finding the best chainsaw with 20″ bar length can seem like an overwhelming task. But one thing makes the finding easier – there are only gasoline chainsaws available with 20-Inch guide bar length right now. So you don’t have to think about what’s to buy an electric or gasoline chainsaw. Big and powerful chainsaws cost more money than the small chainsaws so it’s better to buy a reliable chainsaw for your needs which will be from the trusted brand especially if you are arborists. You don’t want the situation when your clients will see how you are trying to start your chainsaw for a long time without success and then tell them “Sorry, my chainsaw won’t start.”.

Chainsaw with 20-Inch Bar

But chainsaws with 20″ bar not only for professionals, it’s for homeowners too, especially if you need to clear your “garden” after a hurricane. Which was the case in 2017 when there were so many hurricanes. Also, a 20-Inch chainsaw is good for big branches and for firewood cutting and since the most saws with that bar length usually have a powerful and reliable engine you can do such tasks without problems. But what is the good 20″ chainsaw for the money? We did the research and found the most popular and reliable chainsaws with 20-inch bar length from trusted brands.  All chainsaws on our list have many positive reviews from buyers and highly recommended by them.

Best 20″ Chainsaw No.1: Husqvarna 455 Rancher

Best 20" Chainsaw No.1: Husqvarna 455 Rancher

Average Product Rating: 4.4*

Why it’s great: It has the powerful 55.5cc 2-stroke engine which is ideal for landowners and professionals who need a heavy-duty chainsaw to work in all conditions. In addition, the engine of this saw has X-Torq feature – reduced emission level and lower fuel consumption. “Very powerful chainsaw! I can’t find a tree or branch that this chainsaw can’t handle!” says one reviewer. Also, Husqvarna 455 has the Air Injection feature which increases the engine life and you need to clear air filter less often (In comparison with other chainsaws) as it centrifugal air cleaning system removes larger debris and dust before reaching the air filter.

And when we talk about maintenance, this chainsaw have it easy as it features easy-to-do chain tensioning from the side access and quick-release air filter cover and air filter. For professionals who need to work for a long time during the day, it provides increased comfort with LowVib (Low-vibration) technology and 7° offset front handle for increased comfort and less operator fatigue.

Best 20″ Chainsaw No.2: Poulan Pro PR5020 967061501

Best 20" Chainsaw No.2: Poulan Pro PR5020

Average Product Rating: 3.8*

Why it’s great: If you are a landowner and you don’t need a chainsaw for prolonged and regular heavy-duty work then you can look on Poulan Pro 967061501 chainsaw. The main reason why this chainsaw is good it’s has a low price in comparison with other chainsaws on our list. And in addition, has good features for such price. But despite its low price, Poulan Pro 967061501 can cut branches and trees just like more expensive saws with one exception – you need to use this chainsaw carefully as it was designed for homeowners and not for arborists who use their saws all day long.

If you need to use a chainsaw 5 days a week for 8 hours a day then it’s better to buy something else. But for between times, around the house tasks (firewood cutting, felling trees, clearing your garden after a hurricane) this chainsaw is great. And by the way, Poulan Pro brand is owned by Husqvarna and chainsaws share some features between them with just another name. For example, Husqvarna calls their “reduced emission and low fuel consumption” engine the X-Torq and Poulan Pro has the OxyPower engine with similar features.

But this chainsaw has no Air Injection and Forged three-piece crankshaft like Husqvarna 455 Rancher which increases engine life that’s why I can’t recommend this chainsaw for arborists but for an average homeowner this saw is more than enough. But as for the rest, Poulan Pro 967061501 has quick and easy start feature, easy maintenance with a side access chain tensioner, and easy access to an air filter.

If your budget is half the cost of Husqvarna 455 then you can buy PoulanPro 967061501 because it’s the best 20″ chainsaw for the money in the price range of under $250.

And don’t forget if you have a chainsaw or you are going to buy one, then you should have a chainsaw sharpener. Chainsaw chain goes dull overtime and you need to sharpen it.
